                                IF I WERE A SONG

April 27, 2009. The Healing Garden at Eisenhower Medical Center. Rancho Mirage, California. The World Premiere of "If I Were A Song." Poem by Expressive Arts Practitioner, Diane ("Annie") Mathias. Flute accompaniment by Flute Maker Jon Sherman.

I am connected to Annie Mathias through some dear friends and flute players who live in Nanaimo in the summer but winter in California and are privileged to be friends and flute students of Annie.. She is a very inspiring woman deeply connected to  music as therapy and has written a short book 'Being the Hollow Reed' for people using flutes in Hospice and other therapeutic settings.

The words in the poem are inspiring and Jon Sherman adds his magical flute playing supporting the tone and intention of the words.
This is magical. Jon Sherman is also a very fine flute maker and one day I  will add one of his flutes to my collection.

Enjoy, this magical , musical and very poetic interlude.
